Balmain S/S 09By now, you are probably familiar with the Balmain jackets from the Spring 2009 show. The jacket shows two different trends for this summer: studs and other different types of silvery accents and strong shoulders.
The silver accents remind me of marching band jackets, while the strong shoulders really just remind me of a bad '80s power suit...or if you're me, "Where'd you park your DeLorean?"

Granted, anytime you put something this intense on a model, in an editorial shoot, the effect is a lot more muted, a lot less...ridiculous. Is it just me or should the accented shoulders go away?
I'm still really into the influences marching band jackets have on the Balmain jackets, however.
