TRICIA (Austin, TX)
Tricia is a girl after my own heart. She loves a lot of the same things I do: black and white photos of folk singers, cats, tote bags, the many emotions of Jon Hamm, loafers...not to mention, cats. She is also behind (along with Carly) one of my favorite zines/publishing collectives/blogs/all-around girly badassery Ventricular Projects. Full disclosure: we are also in a (future) girl-group twee band called The Best Bangs. I am delighted that she took some time out of her cross-country upheaval to write a fantastic little entry for me. Without blabbing on and on, I give the metaphorical floor to Tricia!I'm a sentimental fool who feels a twinge of regret whenever I leave the house without at least one camera, so documenting my last week in Boston and my return to my home state of Texas was a pretty natural decision for me. It wasn't long before I started to notice that kitties were a unifying thread in the snaps I was taking, so I decided to follow my heart and let those little whiskered devils have their way. Live every week like it's cat week!

Striking a signature Vivian pose in a kitty-friendly outfit (Topshop skirt, Gap shirt, Zara tee, thrifted Bass loafers, and H&M sunglasses that I did not actually wear indoors but felt were integral to the outfit). Now, you might be wondering what makes this outfit worthy of inclusion in a cat post?

Well, the answer is that I built it around this fashionable feline pin that came with my copy of my very favorite publications, Chelsea Magazine.

It's not a Vivian and the Dream of Horses post without a cute tote bag, so here are a couple of mine! I have tons, but lately I'm all about my Fieldguided & thrifted cat bags.

Next up, all you need to get a perfect cat eye and more! Hello Kitty for Sephora eyeshadow and blush kit (which I use to fill in my naturally super light brows). Maybelline Full & Soft mascara (have been using this every day since high school--truly the best!), Maybelline Eye Studio gel liner for that swingin' sixties flair, and Revlon's Just Bitten lipstain for hot pink lips. Bonus points: if you don't have naturally perfect skin, Mario Badescu products (seen creepin' in the back) are lovely and Benefit Boi-ing is a super hardcore concealer.

I had a crazy busy week (what with moving and all), so making a gigantanormous thing of pasta salad at the beginning of it was a lifesaver. Cat-shaped pasta courtesy of my mom! Just throw together some chopped tomatoes, bell peppers, Italian dressing, black pepper, crushed red pepper, and parmesan cheese and you have a quick, delicious meal! I guess you don't need three kinds of pepper if you don't want, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I ended my week with a real, live cat! Specifically, a reunion with favorite feline in the world, Miss Sophie, who I think should be a fashion blogger because when I stopped taking pictures of her she actually started whining.
