A week in the life of...Carly

CARLY (soon-to-be Austin, Texas)

Like I said in my introduction post, I'm really excited to be able to do such a fun little project for my blog. It keeps things interesting and I get to show off my awesome friends to you, my dear readers (yes, all ten of you)! It's kind of great to see how, even though a lot of my friends and I have similar style aesthetics, we totally appropriate them differently in real life. I may own the same dress as one girl, but the way we both style it is truly our own.

Anyway, to start off this month-long plus "A Week in the Life of" project is none other than Carly, one half of both Ventricular Projects and FYWA (F Yeah Women Artists). You can also find her here. Without further ado, I turn it over to Carly...

As much as I love the idea of summer, it never pans out to be that enjoyable. Living in the south means unbearable humidity every day and severe wardrobe limitations. On my days off from work, I just sort of give up and throw on a pair of shorts and tank, or a sundress, along with a pair of sandals and look forward to October (or whenever it starts to finally cool off). I'm embarrassed to admit I've already purchased three sweaters this month in anticipation for fall (my favorite season) but lately I've been a bit better on trying to stick to hot weather purchases instead (Vivian helped talk me out of a sweater the other day in lieu of a more lightweight blouse).

Recent purchases

(No. 6 silk dress, Rachel Comey tank, thrifted sweater)

The No. 6 dress and Rachel Comey tank were both on extreme sale and I wasn't able to resist (I really hate this time of year for all the 75% off online boutique sales, I lose all self-control). The sweater was a great thrifting find from early July, I'm always scouting for them in the summer when no one else is looking. The selection is usually limited so there's more room for summery clothes, but there's always a few fantastic ones tucked away in the racks.

Here's a few of my more recent favorite things:

(Arrow Stud Earrings from Datter (aka Kaye Blegvad) and Lavender Olive Oil Soap from 12th Avenue.)

Favorite sandals

I fell in love with these sandals when they first came out but couldn't justify the price tag. Luckily, I was able to find them on sale for 50% off a few weeks back and haven't been able to take them off my feet! (which are now dyed red from the suede).

Favorite sundress
I found this A.P.C. Madras sundress for 50% off at the Steven Alan outpost while shopping with Tricia in New York. The best part of the dress is it has pockets! The store is extremely small but everything is super cute and most of the merchandise is current but marked down heavily. Definitely check it out if you have the chance. It's air conditioned!

Favorite Hair Style

I have super thick and wavy hair and as soon as it comes in contact with humidity, it turns into a huge sweaty tangled mess so it's pretty much always up in the summer. I go back and forth between a side bun and braids, I just want it out of my face and off my body.
