you never had any fun.
J. Schwartz (coconut records) + Chloë Sevigny + professional skateboarders Mark Gonzales and Alex Olson acting like kids. so cute!
Summer, summer, summer time!
P.S. My favorite MJ song, in memory.
lace for summer!
My new goal is to start dressing more maturely because my face is seriously like Tuck Everlasting, and I am tired of getting carded two or three times in the same bar because they can't believe that I'm not 12. Also, I have a horrible habit of wearing things like glittery bow belts every day (fact: I do have one and I do wear it often).
Of course, I'm not saying I'm abandoning my joie de vivre and wearing old lady lace.
I will use these 3.1 Phillip Lim outfits in his Resort 2010 collection as inspiration to be young and modern, while keepin' in classy.
Below, some cheaper alternatives (courtesy of Forever 21) to keep your own closet lace-happy.

you came to me
I was listening to a lot of Beach House before making this post, so I was inspired to make a little more effort in taking pictures this time. Hence, my pretending to be more in touch with nature, like a forest in a dreamy world.
Too bad there isn't any real good forest around my neck of the woods (no pun intended). I guess I'll have to make do!
The dress was one of those one-size-fits-all sort of deals in Hong Kong. I wasn't allowed to try the dress on at the store, but I liked the floral details and felt like I should risk it anyway. I live life on the edge, you know?
See, I'm just so tough:Red Mary Janes from Primark. Black bow headband from Forever 21. Pale legs courtesy of spending the summer in England, the fall/winter/spring in tights.
u-c-i, gonna grad-u-aaaa-te
Sure, I technically graduated 12 weeks ago, but there's nothin' like wearing a 100% black polyester gown to seal the deal.

P.S. If you still haven't watched the video above, please do. It's one of the reasons why I love the 80's.
khaki made cool?
This news is sort of old, but I was out of the country and I get a free pass for living under a rock. ANYWAY, for those who don't know either, Vena Cava and Alexander Wang are collaborating with Gap. Like the last collaboration Gap did with CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund (the white button up), these two designer labels are taking a turn at one of Gap's beloved fabric: khaki...something I rarely ever wear.
BUT: Alexander Wang brings his motorcycle jacket and translates it into khaki. Apparently it will be under $100.Um, I want you soooo bad, moto jacket!
There are also four different khaki hats in this collection by Albertus Swanepoel. I think I used to own a couple of khaki bucket hats when I was younger...so, you know.
Two other things I'm excited about are these dresses by Vena Cava. I am a sucker for black on white(-ish) patterns and omg exposed giant zipper. I want it. June 17 can't come soon enough!

resort 2010: vena cava and ADAM
The designers of Vena Cava had stated that this Resort collection was inspired by the 90s in Venice Beach. If I had read that and didn't look at the collection, I would be a little turned off. First of all, I grew up wearing oversized t-shirts, leggings and scrunchies. That, to me, was the (early) '90s. Venice nowadays is full of crazy hippies and suuuuper laid back beachy people--I am neither of these things. Good thing what they meant by the beach was casual and breezy tops, skirts, and fabrics inspired by a South African tribe. On another note, I am coveting all these shoes hardcoreeee.
ADAM, on the other hand, is a completely different collection. For this collection, ADAM has decided to try their hand at a nautical theme, minus the obvious anchors and such. Wave-like chiffon skirts, oversize blazers (I know, a little '80s. I'm just going to semi-embrace it guys), and silk shift dresses all make an appearance here.

resort 2010: temperley london
As a whole, Temperley London's Resort 2010 collection doesn't really make sense. There is no overarching narrative or cohesive element to tie it all together. Looking at it separately though is a different thing. Each outfit as a whole is ready to wear: the silhouettes are appealing and it gives off a summer feel. The colors are fresh and the fabric is suited for casual wear.

resort 2010: rag&bone, thakoon, marc jacobs, miu miu, alexander wang
Resort collections for 2010 have been trickling into New York this past week and I wanted to share a few of my favorites so far. Marc Jacobs were really "look at me, I'm from the early 80s" with the blazers and huge shoulder pads. I'm not really a fan of Marc Jacobs (Marc by Marc Jacobs on the other hand is one of my favorites), but there were still some nice things. My favorite collection so far has to be the Thakoon line. Everything is divine: the silhouettes, the fabric choices, the ruching on the dresses...I had to stop myself from posting the whole collection!
Anyway, here are a few of my favorites from the two aforementioned designers, along with Alexander Wang (LBDs make a little visit, of course), Miu Miu, and Rag & Bone. Looking at all the summery wear makes me just a little excited for summer!
Love the silhouettes in these two dresses. I'm going to try to find more creme colored pieces to add to my wardrobe. It's so versatile!Getting ready for big(ger) sweaters and minis, ya'll. My friend just gave me two United Colors of Benetton sweaters and one of them is slouchy big. I may or may not try to go for something marc jacobs-inspired. Maybe.
Of course, Wang's LBD (there are more, but I like this one the best). Also, love the black moto jacket with dressy shorts on the model to the left. It feels like something we all can emulate, no?
Oh gosh, I can't help but love floral. Marc does a wonderful job incorporating floral in those shoes (!!!), dress, and skirt. I love how that skirt looks on the model.
Rag & Bone is fast becoming one of my favorite labels, even though they've been around since 2002-ish. The sleek outlines made by the super super skinny jeans, shrunken blazers, and ankle boots are to die for. Also, patterned blouses = love.
OK, so now we're going on to the Thakoon love fest. All I will say is, love the fabric choices and the way they are manipulated.
