rag & bone
I remember not blogging about rag & bone last season because of how much I disliked that collection. Although there were a few looks I liked in this one (well, four, pictured below), the collection as a whole this time was also kind of meh. I'm not sure, but I feel like the woman that the designers are dressing now is someone wholly different from me/my aesthetic/who I would want to dress like.

On the other hand, Rebecca Minkoff dresses for someone that I would look up to, dresses for someone that is me (if I had copious amounts of moneyz), and also ladies that I wouldn't dress like (as it's not my style/I wouldn't be able to pull it off) but who I wouldn't do a double take and go "I'd never, in a million years, wear that."

Lace and cut outs, long gowns and full suits--things I love but can't pull off, things I love and will wear/buy all the time, things I love and will admire from afar.

Not too long ago, I was talking to a friend about fashion labels and I was singing the praise of the Olsen's The Row. She looked at me, really unsure, and said "Really? You admire their style?" To which I had to explain, No you see, The Row is all about clean, cut minimalist lines. Tailored to perfection yet feminine at the same time. It's everything I want--minus the florals of course.

Band of Outsiders
Preppy and Sporty-chic--this is what this label does best and Resort 2012 is no exception. Anoraks are paired with button ups, blazers with ankle-grazing trousers. All with a "don't mess with me" athletic-inspired open-toe bootie. Yowza.

Céline
Although I know I said I hated the all-over floral wallpaper ensembles over at Marc Jacobs, I have to back track and say that I don't hate ALL all-over floral wallpaper ensembles because the one look at Celine can GET IT. I don't even know if that phrase makes sense in this context, but I think you know what I mean.

Jonathan Saunders
I am really loving all the prints and colors in this collection. It doesn't hurt that it's splashed over really adorable dresses (fitted bodices with a full skirt, what!) and tailored suits (a million times yes!) without looking over the top.

Although the silohuettes of this collection are similar to the other resort collections, the color palette is undecidedly not very resort. And you know what, it's really refreshing! Although L.A. right now is pretty cool, I know when I head back to New York I will have to deal with extreme heat and humidity. Thus, these autumn colors make this collection even more appealing. Not to mention all the knits and layering, oh man.

Holy crap, clean crisp silohuettes at it's finest. Smart blazers, cropped trousers, and really nice button ups...be still my heart.

Oh my gosh, the clash of floral and plaid has got my heart pitterin' and a'pattering! I also love the cute tropical background and all the little props. It makes the collection that much more fun.

LOL at some of these awkward poses. Regardless, clean and modern with some interesting silhouettes thrown into the mix. I don't foresee myself pulling a lot of these looks off, but the clean looks combined with the prints make for a lovely collection.

Without doing any research (because I am a good blogger), I'm assuming Thakoon Addition is for a younger set? I mean, just comparing this collection to his main line, this one is a lot more playful and--in my life--easier to copy.

Resort 2012: Part 3.
Marc by Marc Jacobs
The solid color looks with a splash of fluorescent yellow as well as the black-and-white patterned looks were the big stand outs for me in this collection.

I didn't show any of them (because what's the point in showing things I don't like?), but I was not into the all-over wallpaper-print looks (um, Garden State much?). The other stuff (3-D-esque flowers in eye-searing brights, for example) somewhat made up for it.

Although I'm not really into the slouchy "cool" look that this collection was going for (perhaps it's because I can't pull it off?), I love that the draping and little details make it somethin' special.

Up and onwards!

Over and over, I have gushed over this label. The use of florals, bold prints, and cute silhouettes on dresses, coats, tailored shirts will always have a place in my heart. However, the winning look for me in this collection is the blue lace with white outfits. The way the lace just falls over the model's shoulders and hangs on the back--lovely.

The lace from last season crept back in, not that I'm complaining. Jason Wu does lace so well that he can do it every single season and I won't complain. Aside from the lace looks (the last gown is DIVINE), I'm really digging the tailored button ups tucked into shorts/trousers and a fitted blazer. So so so good.

And then when there are days where I don't want to be a Jason Wu girl, I want to be a Jill Stuart gal. This collection called in the florals in bright colors in head-to-toe suit set, rompers, and dresses. Something for everyone!

First of all COLOR PALETTE YES. The peach/light corals mixed with the very light blues and the bright yellows mixed with grays are both such nice combinations. I just want to wear these color combos every day this summer because they're perfect!
Resort 2012: Part 1.
I am woefully behind on updates re: Resort 2012, which is awfulawfulawful since it is undeniably my favorite fashion season of the year. Since I will be going on a 3-day/2-night jaunt to Vegas with my family this coming week, I thought I'd stagger these posts over the next few days and have them published while I'm gone (~technology~). So don't you worry, MY BLOG PRESENCE WILL STILL BE FELT.
Now in alphabetical order!
ACNE
Not sure how I feel about the (long) skirt + pants dealio, but I can't deny that I'm drawn to this collection's color story. The blues and oranges and crisp whites, hot damn! Also, so jealous of the models' messy buns...if only I could emulate that!

ADAM
If summer was always consistently breezy, mid-70s, and sunny, this would be my dream wardrobe. Granted, I say that a lot about a lot of collections, but since I've been recently drawn to button ups, tailored slacks, and neutral colors, then this CAN be my dream wardrobe, right?

Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony
But then I guess there are days when I leave the tailoring behind and go for spunky 90's. Leather and white with crazy cut outs and cut-out designs. Oh man, yes please! Instant ventilation for those hot summer days?

Derek Lam
My obsession with leather shorts/all things leather continues. I may not be able to rock a full on leather dress (comfort>all, for the most part) but oh man, does it look tempting.

Erin Fetherston
Not more can be said that I haven't said before about this label. Every collection she does is just amazeballs and so ladylike and inspirational in the "I can totally look like this (someday!)" way. Ugh, just. Yes.
Blurgh weather
After a gorgeous weekend weatherwise (seriously, mid 70s and sunny (for the most part)!?), it's back to high 80s and humid again. I wore this to go back to work this week after a fun-filled weekend. I guess I should say that I work at a pretty casual place, since I am wearing shorts and all. After work, grabbed a bite to eat with my friend H and then we went to two YES TWO bookstores (Barnes and Noble and The Strand where I purchased Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro for my plane ride back to LA!) And yes, I may have just did an outfit post with said shorts. Whateva, recycling or whatever.
